By Alyssa Laffitte on June 19, 2017

I don’t know about you, but I love traveling. I also love daydreaming about where I should travel to next.

After doing some research, I found some great places everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime. If you’re looking to travel soon, here are some epic international travel destinations you can consider!

Nassau, Bahamas

The Bahamas have always been my dream vacation destination. Specifically, I have always wanted to visit the Atlantis Resort at Paradise Island. When people think of The Bahamas, a lot of them picture the Royal Towers of Atlantis. Staying there is pricey, but it’s quite the experience. You can enjoy their fun water slides, relaxing spa, and beautiful beaches.

Here are two of Atlantis’s notable attractions!

Paradise Island Aquaventure. Aquaventure is a 141-acre waterpark full of slides, rides, and pools. There’s something for everyone here, whether you want to do a more intense water slide (like the “Leap of Faith”) or a relaxing lazy river ride.

Dolphin Cay. Swim with dolphins in the largest man-made, open-air marine habitat! You can also paddleboard or kayak next to the dolphins.

Playa del Carmen, Mexico

Mexico has some amazing beaches and attractions. Check out the fun activities Playa del Carmen has to offer!

Swim with Whale SharksIf you thought swimming with dolphins was cool, imagine swimming with whale sharks! You can watch the whale sharks have lunch as you swim close by. Many people who have gone say this whale shark tour was one of the most memorable things they have ever done.

Selvatica Gimme All Tour. This is a tour that’ll let you rope swing, zip line, and enjoy a cenote swim. It’s an all-in-one experience!

Bora Bora

When people think of a dream vacation, they usually think of the Four Seasons Resort in Bora Bora, with the cute tiki huts and the crystal clear blue water underneath. Here are some great things to do there:

Glass-Bottom Boat Tour. Get a good look at what’s under the sea on a glass-bottom boat!

Sunset Cruise and Star TourGo on a fun boat tour while your tour guide tells you stories about ancient Polynesian astronomy.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Brazil is known for its striking icons, beautiful beaches, and for one of the world’s most popular biodiversity hotspots. It’s definitely a place to see!

Christ the Redeemer StatueThis enormous statue is an icon of Rio de Janeiro that everyone should see.

Tijuca Rainforests. If you’re interested in Brazil’s amazing biodiversity, you can hike through these rainforests and see it firsthand!

Botanical Gardens. There are over 5,000 species of plants and animals to see at Brazil’s botanical gardens.

Museums. Paris is famous for its museums. You can visit more famous ones, like the Louvre, or some not-so-famous ones, like the National Museum of Natural History. There are some iconic works of art housed in these museums!

Cathedrals and architecture: Cathedrals you can visit include the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Sainte-Chapelle. Of course, you can stop by the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe!

Nature: Although some areas in Paris are a concrete jungle, France also has some amazing natural scenery. Some places you can check out are River Seine, Luxembourg Gardens, Jardin des Tuileries, and Parc des Buttes Chaumont.

Trevi Fountain in Rome, Italy

Rome, Italy

•Ruins: Rome has some of the most amazing ruins in the world. I’d recommend checking out the Colosseum (the largest amphitheater ever built, used for public events such as gladiator battles), the Pantheon (the “temple relating to all the gods”), and the Roman Forum (the city’s central area).

The Sistine Chapel: See the beautiful works of art that live inside the Sistine Chapel, including Michelangelo’s famous “The Last Judgement” and “The Creation of Adam.”

Trevi Fountain: This fountain is one of Rome’s most popular landmarks and one of the most famous fountains in the world. It’s the largest Baroque fountain in the city of Rome!

Tokyo, Japan

•Gardens and nature: Tokyo has many beautiful gardens and natural sites to see. The Shinjuku Gyown National Garden is a tourist favorite, and so are the Hotel New Otani Japanese Garden and the Meguro River. Yes, you’ll see plenty of cherry blossoms here!

Ginza: Ginza is the place most people think of when they think of Japan. It’s a bustling downtown area with many high-end stores, restaurants, and clubs. It’s definitely worth checking out.

Museums: Tokyo is famous for its many beautiful museums. Among these museums are Edo-Tokyo Museum, Samurai Museum, and the Tokyo National Museum.

Traveling is a great way to learn more about the world around you, especially traveling out of the country. If the opportunity presents itself, I strongly encourage you to visit the places I listed. Take advantage of the fact that you’re young! Go out and see the wonderful world we live in!
